My Style // me right now // part 1

I'm currently applying for a retail position at a fairly popular store. I've worked for about a year now in retail and seem to only be able to find a job in this occupation. I've tried applying to work as a waitress, hostess, busser, etc., but my lack of food experience has often times gotten the "we're actually not hiring at the moment" mantra.

Anyways, part of the application process for this particular store is submitting three pictures of my style. When I was asked to do this by the store manager, I got excited. The idea of being able to not only show off my style, but possibly get a job out of it got me so riled up, it was hard to imagine it was only for a sales associate position. Either way, it took me nearly a week to finally stop procrastinating and take the pictures of myself in clothes I thought would get me hired.

Here are the photos:

Outfit #1: The top I got from a thrift store. The brand is LaLa. It has a bunch of cherries all over it with the word "cherry" in cursive printed over and over. The shorts are from inG. My mom got them for me about two years ago, I think. They are high waisted black that I've actually never worn but plan to once I move.

Outfit #2: I'm wearing the American Apparel disco pants here in the color menthe. They were on sale for $23, I think, which was crazy because usually they're around $80. They're super comfy and stretchy and draw attention right to you. The day I wore them to school I got a bunch of compliments, a bunch of looks, and a bunch of questions on what they were. I'm not used to attention, and I don't especially like it, which is why I've only worn them out once, but I'm trying to become more comfortable with wearing things I usually wouldn't be comfortable with. The tank top is from Forever 21. It's super old. The jacket, as well, is super old. It's my dad's old Levi's denim jacket. I'm sure you can get a similar one at a thrift store or even Levi's if you want to get one that hasn't been used. I think the used part of the jacket is my favorite part though. I wear it all the time. It has a bunch of pockets which hides snacks when I wear it to the movies, and it's just overall the comfiest thing in the world.

Outfit #3: This outfit I actually do wear quite a lot, because it's simple and super comfy. The tank top I thrifted. The brand is Gilligan & O' Malley, and it's actually supposed to be sleepwear. The shorts I also thrifted and are from the brand Lee. They don't really fit me that well, but they photograph like they do.

My style right now variates immensely on what I'm inspired by. I was watching Magic in the Moonlight the other day, and although I only managed to get maybe 20 minutes of it before I headed out, the soft colored, old-fashioned outfits Emma Stone wore completely entranced me. They made me want to wear pastel, peter pan collared, sheer feminine dresses with tasseled loafers and floppy spring hats.
I watch Kylie Jenner's snapchats all the time and her revealing, tight clothes make me want to wear matching bodycon skirts and crop tops with immense amounts of Mac lipstick and shimmery bronzer.
Even just locations inspire my style. I was in Austin this past weekend and all I wanted to wear was earthy, bohemian clothes that flowed like the grassy scenery.

As far as my consistent, personal style, I seek comfort. If something is a little too tight in areas that I'm uncomfortable with (like my upper arms), I never wear it again, even if it looked good. 9/10 times I stop wearing something just because I either can't sit in it, walk in it, or run errands with it.

In fact, the other day I was doing a quiz with my boyfriend and one of the questions was "I feel my sexiest when..." and after five minutes of going in between "my boyfriend tells me i look sexy" and "I eat a good meal" I decided on "I wear cute clothes". Because it's true. When I wear a cute outfit, the world is open to me. I feel confident and like nothing can bring me down.

Style is completely versatile. It can get you to feel your best or it can get you a part time position at a popular retail brand. Both are pretty great things for me right now: I'm young and at liberty to be both employed part time without losing my mind over bills/40+ work hours and to be able to test out the limits on my personal look with cheap thrift store finds.

I'll update with part 2 of "My Style" as soon as I can.

Kylie Jenner Paper Towns Premiere // Style Inspiration

Love her or hate her, everyone's talking about Kylie Jenner. Her scandalous snapchats, mature photo shoots, and sexual clothing is what everyone is raving about. As part of the Kardashian tradition, her style is impeccable and her clothes are expensively enviable.

Kylie's look from the Paper Towns premiere is both mature and fresh. Her brown suede Topshop jacket ($360) gives the look an older feel but is instantly made younger by her La Perla bra ($308) and Moda Operandi sheer skirt ($2,995), displaying her incredible body.

A much cheaper version of the suede jacket that Kylie is wearing comes from Forever21 for only $54.90.

There's also a darker version from BooHoo for $52. However, both are a bit lighter than the one that Kylie is wearing.

The bra that Kylie is wearing can be easily copied. I found this strapless one from Aerie for only $36.95. And right now Aerie actually has a deal where you buy one and get one 50% off!

The closest skirt I could find was this one from Amazon ($18.90) that comes in different colors. The one that I would recommend to get that would be closest to Kylie's is the white.

I found this pair of Modcloth heels ($39.99) that are super similar to her Gianvito Rossi sandals ($770).

Now for her accesories:

This choker from the etsy shop acanthusjd is selling for about $8 and looks close to the one that she's wearing.

One of her other layering necklaces is a stone pendant. This one from Forever 21 is only $5.90 and the same length as hers.

Her hand jewelry:

This Michael Kors watch comes out to $250.

A cheaper version of this watch can be found at Forever 21 for $22.90!

If you want a watch that's in between both of these, there is this Fossil one that is selling for $155.

She is wearing two of the same ring to create that rhombus shape. It is this ring from jewelcut that is currently selling for $20.

Her purse is from Givenchy. This one from Topshop is super close and is selling for only $65!

Now, finally, her makeup:

One of Kylie Jenner's biggest identifiers is her big, sultry eyes and her bold lips.

Her typically filled in brows were left untouched while her eyes played the center of attention on her look. She wore false eyelashes on the top, individuals that were mostly glued to the ends of her eyes. She used shimmery white, brown, and dark pink (almost muave) eyeshadow colors. The white was used in the corner of her eyes and on her browbone, right underneath the arch. Then it was spread across her lid, with the brown and pink mixed together in the crease, and the brown gently laid on the outer lid of her eye. Underneath her eyes there is a light brown used to create a mild smokey effect.
The blush she used seems to be a darker pink, the same shade as Super Orgasm by Nars. She has an overall bronzey look that seems to be a couple shades darker than her actual skintone. She has highlighter on her forehead, the apples of her cheeks, and on her chin. Her lip color is a natural light nude pink. It can be obtained by combining Macs Brave with a nude lipstick.

As for her hair, noone is entirely sure how she's achieving the light, pastel teal so frequently. I'm assuming she's wearing a wig that is part of her Bellami hair extension line.

I hope this helped you achieve Kylie's effortless, flowy look!

Wishlist

There are quite a few items that I super super wanted before moving to where I'm going to be living this year. It's going to be very wet; where I'm going to live it rains a lot.
I love this raincoat from BooHoo. It comes in four different colors. I want to get the baby blue color, because I feel like it'd easily match with everything, but would also add a little bit of color to my outfits.

I want a pair of high waisted jeans from BooHoo as well. These are a dark pair that I would pair with tank tops for when it's warmer and cropped sweaters for when it gets cool.

I have wanted a pair of Calvin Klein panties since I saw this picture of Kendall Jenner in them:

She's not the only celebrity that's been sporting them. Iggy Azalea, Miranda Kerr, Nick/Joe Jonas, and Justin Bieber have also been sporting the iconic designer. Jenner, however, is actually currently the spokesmodel for the brand's Fall 2015 "the original sexy" debut!

This pair is being sold on the Calvin Klein website for only $12!

I have a pair of AA disco pants that I absolutely love and that make everyones bodies look amazing! The pants work on both curvy, athletic, and thin bodies. I have my pair in the color Menthe, but I have been eyeing the black and pearl pair for so long now! The black would be perfect to wear up with a pair of high sandals and a fancy blouse, and the pearl would look amazing with some black crop tops or a striped black and white button up.

This eyeshadow palette is Amber x Nine from Mac cosmetics. I personally have yellowish brown eyes (amber), and this palette would really make the hints of yellow in my eyes pop. I think, even for girls with colored eyes, this palette works as well. There's a video of Candice Swanepoel getting her makeup done where the artist mentions that the colors opposite your eyes actually makes your eye color pop.

The last thing that's on my wishlist is this pair of brogues from Asos. I think they're adorable and that they would match with anything.

Inspiration:Dont Trust the B**** in Apt 23

Now that I'm venturing off to living on my own, completely enslaved by a 12 month lease, I decided to watch an entire show simply because "Apt" was in the title. My obsession with it quickly grew, however, when I became completely infatuated with one of the main characters, Chloe, played by Krysten Ritter.

Her style on the show is completely eclectic but classic at the same time. And her makeup is always done so perfectly, with wide doe eyes and bold red lips. She lives by her never fearless attitude that is both charming and terrifying to me. I have never been the type of person to thrive off of other people, but she is.

This outfit is one of my favorites from both seasons of the now canceled show. The fur coat adds such a perfect touch to her crimson dress with gold detailing belt and chic red sunglasses. Chloe's outfits typically have at least one red piece that she styles with much darker clothes. She always looks like she just threw on an outfit, and, often times, she probably does.

Her makeup is always perfectly classy, slightly reminding me of Audrey Hepburn's doe eyes and thick eyebrows. To mimic this look, one should go for light blush, dark lips (using lipliner and no additional gloss), brow shadow, and nose contouring.

Her hair here is my favorite. The messy curls add volume to the look and create this sort of babydoll appearance. Bangs should be straightened and hair moussed then curled with a medium sized iron. Only some sections should be curled, others should be messily left be.

But what I'm obsessed with most when it comes to Chloe is her attitude towards life. She's carefree and fun. Everything about her is done not necessarily effortlessly, but carelessly. She lives for herself and nobody else. It's a trait that I not only admire but aspire to also have. She is exciting, and although at times, a bit self serving, it is not without remembering the people that actually, genuinely care for her.

In one of my favorite episodes, the last episode of Season 1, it's revealed that Chloe is the superstar hero in a graphic novel titled "Tall Slut No Panties". It's just so fucking cool.

I hope you enjoyed this bit of inspiration that I found. I hope to post a little more often, since I know my last post was a while ago!
