BEST LOOKS // OSCARS

Unfortunately, I missed the Academy Awards this past Sunday: it was the first time I had not seen the Oscars since 2008. Work work work work work was the reason, which is fine, everyone's got to make money honey. (I also want to apologize for being so late with this post! It's basically been a month since the Oscars, but I still want to stick it out and make it)

Anyways, I did end up going through twitter and different news sites to update me on every major moment that happened this year. (Alejandro Inaritu winning AGAIN for the second year in a row, which I think is an incredible feat for latinos in the entertainment industry.) (And of course, Leo winning his first academy award after 6 nominations was amazing! I think everyone felt such a collective happiness at that point.)

Without further ado, though, I have compiled my list of what I personally found to be the best dressed at the Academy Awards. Again, I will include men and a best dressed of the night with runner up right before it. I will try to feature some information about the outfits: why I picked them, what was significant about them, etc. I will also include Oscars after parties as well.

Let's go:

Gwen Stefani at the Vanity Fair after party, wearing Yanini Couture
This beautiful, sheer gown features scarlet embellishments throughout that cascade across her torso and down to her feet. The singer actually performed at the after party wearing this dress:

If you want to watch a video of her performance, instagram user chrissalgardo posted a clip!

Lady Gaga in Brandon Maxwell

Lady Gaga wore this custom made gown that was created by her stylist, along with five other outfits that she picked from. Her best accessory, though, was her fiance, Taylor Kinney.

Chrissy Teigan in Marchesa
This elegant gown is shapely and fits Teigan like a glove, which is an incredible feat considering she is about five months pregnant here! She looks beautiful and glowing with her pregnancy skin, and the gown only illuminates that natural glow.
Here's an image the model tweeted of her "Oscars #belly" getting fitted into the dress:

Stephanie Bauer in Portia & Scarlett

Julianne Moore in Chanel

Zuri Hall in Portia & Scarlett
E! News correspondent Zuri Hall was actually a name I had never heard of, but this dress fits her so elegantly and the shade is so simple, that I knew she had to be on this list. Originally I couldn't find the designer for her dress, but after some intense googling that took about ten seconds, I found that she had written her own post about her evening at the Oscars, with all of her jewelry included. Click here to read what she had to say!

Olivia Munn in Stella McCartney
Olivia Munn looks absolutely beautiful here. Her makeup accentuates this bold color by neutralizing itself in simple hues of brown and coral. Her makeup artist Patrick Ta posted on his Instagram what makeup she was wearing. (Most of it was entirely Chanel)

Rooney Mara in Givenchy

Runner Up:
Saoirse Ronan in Calvin Klein
This exquisite gown truly shone bright on Oscars night. It was a bold risk to make by the first time nominee, and it paid off.

Best Men

Leonardo DiCaprio in Armani

John Legend  in Paul Smith

Eddie Redmayne in Alexander McQueen

Best of the Night

Cate Blanchett in Armani

It's no surprise that Blanchett wore Armani as she is the face of their Si Eau de Toilette fragrance. She always chooses a risk look however, as evident in the gown she wore to the 2010 Academy Awards, six years ago:

She always surprises and allures with each of her looks, all of them works of art that she wears to celebrate the fashion industry and it's creative magic.

I hope this list, albeit late, was satisfactory! The Oscars is one of the biggest nights in fashion, where artists present themselves in what is thought to be the most important awards show.

xx

Liz
